This past weekend, the dedicated volunteers of Schenectady Rotary were out in full force, making a positive impact in our community through various Earth Day initiatives.

Bright and early on Saturday morning, a group gathered at Gateway Park, affectionately known as Rotary Park, adjacent to SUNY Schenectady. They eagerly joined the Canal Clean Sweep effort, diligently clearing litter along the scenic bike path. Their commitment to preserving our local environment shone through as they worked to beautify this beloved area.

Later that same day, more than 10 Rotarians and family members continued their Earth Day efforts by participating in the festivities at Keane Elementary School. The spirit of giving back was evident as they generously provided free snacks to all attendees. Additionally, the Rotary team brought along over 500 plants, allowing students to engage in hands-on learning by potting their own plants to take home with them. This thoughtful gesture not only enhanced the celebration but also fostered a deeper appreciation for nature among the young participants.

Through their active involvement in these events, Schenectady Rotary exemplified the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.” Their dedication to environmental stewardship and community engagement serves as an inspiration to us all.

A special “Thank you!” to Hillard’s Greenhouse and Produce for their generous donation of plants and pots.
