Join us this week to learn from Kate Nitti and Emma Johnson from Best Buddies. Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 1989, Best Buddies operates in all 50 states and more than 50 countries, creating inclusive opportunities for individuals with and without IDD to build meaningful connections and thrive in their communities. Their mission is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, inclusive living, and family support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In the Capital Region of New York, their programs include 38 active school-based friendship chapters spanning elementary school through college, as well as our Citizens program, which focuses on building one-to-one friendships and hosting community events for adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.
