Keane Elementary School

Since 2023, the Schenectady Rotary Club has been engaged with projects supporting Keane Elementary School, a Community School in the Schenectady City School District.  Historically, some of projects have been:

• Community Room Renovations
• Kitchen Area Renovations
• Laundry Area Renovations
• Back-to-School BBQ Event
• Halloween “Trunk or Treat” Event
• School Yard Beautification
• Earth Day Events

Currently, our primary focus is to address the school’s need to improve literacy and attendance.  The majority of the funding to support these efforts comes is generated at our annual Cornhole for a Cause Tournament.  Click here to see our latest updates on the Keane Elementary School Project.

Attendance

To tackle the Attendance challenge, Schenectady Rotary Club participated in Keane’s NBA (Never Been Absent) initiative, offering NBA Basketball kids apparel incentives to students with perfect attendance.

Literacy

To support Keane’s Literacy improvement efforts we provide funds for things like subsidizing a Book Fair.
